The monument to Zakhiriddin Muhammad Babur in Andijan city may be moved. This is stipulated in the draft Measures for the socio-economic development of Andijan province and further improvement of the business environment Resolution, which was sent to ministries and departments for approval.
Also, at the proposal of the provincial administration, it is planned to build the Andijan city business center, 19 18-story and 7 28-story residential and entertainment complexes on a 10.7-hectare area of the Alisher Navoi recreation park.
In its official response to the situation, the Andijan provincial administration stated that the relocation of the monument is due to the construction of a bridge at the intersection on Bobur highway.
In place of the previous square, a project has been proposed to build a Savdo Mall complex, entertainment centers, offices and other modern buildings designed to serve our population, the administration said in its response.
The administration added that there are no plans to build residential buildings on the site.
Earlier, by decision of the governor of the Fergana province, Khairullo Bozorov, a 2-hectare lake house in the center of Fergana city was handed over to a 24-day company with the right of permanent use for the construction of a hotel, a restaurant and a shopping mall. After public outcry, the illegal decision of the governor was canceled after the lake was transferred to the Ministry of Sports.
