At the Foreign Ministry, the President’s Afghanistan Envoy Ismatulla Ergashev hosted officials of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) Barmak Pazhwak and Matthew Parks.
Reportedly, USIP experts emphasized Uzbekistan’s important role in building long-term and sustainable peace in Afghanistan, and voiced interest in continuing cooperation with the Uzbek authorities to support consultations with various countries in the region in order to develop a peace-building strategy.
The parties reiterated reciprocal interest in continuing consultations on Afghanistan-related matters.
