First Deputy Foreign Minister Bahromjon Aloev hosted the UAE Ambassador Saeed Matar al-Qemzi Monday, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.
The parties discussed the situation related to the recent detention of men - citizens of Uzbekistan at the Abu Dhabi airport.
Reportedly, the parties reached an agreement to take steps to resolve the current situation swiftly.
They also touched on the development of political, trade, economic and investment relations between the two countries.
Since November 30, the border service at the Abu Dhabi airport has not allowed young men arriving alone into the country.
31 men were detained on one of the flights from Tashkent. Their passports were taken away, they were kept without food for 15 hours and interrogated about the purpose of their visit. Then they were forced to leave the country. There were detentions on other flights as well.
