Customs officers at the Gishtkuprik border post with Kazakhstan prevented two attempts to illegally import 717 deer antlers, the Tashkent province Customs Department said.

In the first case, a man entering Uzbekistan in a passenger car tried to hide 600 antlers in the trunk. The counterfeit items was not declared and was not mentioned during the verbal questioning.

In the second case, a pedestrian crossed the border with two carry-on bags containing another 117 antlers, also failing to declare them at customs.

The examination by the Institute of Zoology of the Academy of Sciences found that the seized antlers belong to deer species listed in the Red Book of the country.
