The president of the Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA), Abdusalom Azizov has left his job. According to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), First Vice President Ravshan Irmatov has been appointed as the interim president.

The UFA reported on its Telegram channel that the association would convene for extraordinary congress on February 22, and until then the First Vice President (Ravshan Irmatov) will be in charge The election of the new head of the AFU will take place in a month. 

Abdusalom Azizov headed the association since July 2019, replacing First Deputy Prime Minister Achilbay Ramatov in this post. Abdusalom Azizov was then re-elected to this position in September 2021. 

In November last year, Abdusalom Azizov was dismissed from the post of chairman of the State Security Service (SSS). In early December, he became deputy presidential aide on youth issues.
