The deputy principal of a school in Denov district in the Surkhandarya province sexually had been abusing the school's 9th-grade student for one-year period. In September 2024, the student's parents learned about this and contacted law enforcement agencies.
The Children's Ombudsperson confirmed that this indeed happened in Surkhandarya. After the letter was filed, the Children's Ombudsperson and the police department conducted an investigation into the case. The deputy principal was taken into custody as a precautionary measure.
“Criminal proceedings against minors are conducted the details of the case not being disclosed with an aim of protecting the minor’s interests. The Children's Ombudsperson monitors the investigation of any crime committed against the life, health and sexual integrity of a child within the scope of his powers,” the Children's Ombudsperson added in a statement.
Reportedly, the case has now been transferred to court. The court hearing will be held in the near future behind closed doors.
