9.803 million passengers were transported by rail in 2024, the State Statistics Committee said in a report, recording 177.1 thousand increase to 2023, which indicates an increase in demand for rail transportation.
Reportedly, the number of passengers transported by rail has been steadily increasing since 2020. In 2929 the figure stood at 6.15 million people, and in 2021 it reached 7.95 million. In 2022, it surpassed 9 million, and in 2023 it reached 9.63 million passengers.
The growth in passenger traffic in 2024 recording 2 % rise compared to the previous year. Such growth may be due to improved infrastructure, an increase in the number of services and an increase in the comfort of rail transport.
