Today, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the President of the BRICS New Development Bank Dilma Rousseff, who landed in Tashkent to attend the Tashkent International Investment Forum, the presidential press service said.
The parties reportedly discussed the ways to advance the bilateral cooperation and underscored the successful implementation of the agreements reached on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in October last year.
The Board of Governors of the Bank gave its fundamental consent to Uzbekistan joining the member countries of the New Development Bank, with a program of priority joint projects worth $5 billion having been formed.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of prompt preparation and implementation of projects in priority areas: modernization of irrigation systems, development of the mining industry, financing of the private sector, promotion of public-private partnership projects in the fields of education and infrastructure.
Dilma Rousseff reiterated support for the implementation of large regional infrastructure projects.
At the end of last year it became known that Uzbekistan would receive the status of a BRICS partner country.
