The European Union expects the visit of the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Brussels in the next few months, said the EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan Toivo Klaar, speaking at the Tashkent Investment Forum today.
“This will be a historic visit, a historic opportunity to sign the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union, and to demonstrate our enhanced relations,” he said.
A number of events aimed at developing business ties are also planned for the autumn, both in Tashkent and in Brussels, he added.
“Furthermore, within the framework of the Global Gateway initiative, we seek to invite partners from Central Asia to attend the international forum, which will take plce in the autumn and will be a signal to the whole world about the EU’s interest in equal cooperation with other countries. This is especially true for Central Asia and, in particular, Uzbekistan,” Toivo Klaar emphasized.
The second Global Gateway forum is scheduled for October 9-10 in Brussels. The event is expected to focus on promoting global connectivity in the face of geopolitical and geoeconomic challenges.
The visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Brussels was previously expected to take place in the first half of 2025.
