President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the Governor of Lombardy Attilio Fontana, who landed in Uzbekistan to attend the Tashkent Investment Forum, the presidential press service said.
The parties discussed cooperation, primarily in the trade, economic and investment areas.
Reportedly, projects are now being implemented in Uzbekistan with Lombardy-based companies on growing tomatoes, saffron, producing non-woven material and knitwear, food products.
Projects for the manufacturing of ready-made garments, auto electronics, building materials, processing of dairy and fruit and vegetable products, development of public transport and others are being developed.
The parties emphasized the importance of increasing the portfolio of joint projects, wider involvement of Italian technologies and investments in various sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan and reached an agreement on holding an exhibition of industrial and export potential of Uzbekistan in Milan, opening a trading house and launching an export line under the Uzbek Organic brand.
Organizing an exhibition of museum exhibits from Uzbekistan in Milan in 2026 aimed at expanding cultural and humanitarian exchange is being explored.
While, the governor voiced gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for supporting the projects and initiatives of the business community of Lombardy. He confirmed his readiness to promote a full-scale business partnership with the provinces of Uzbekistan.
At the end of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev wished Attilio Fontana success in preparing and holding the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
