The senators approved the bill on ratification of the agreement on establishment of a civil defense mechanism of the Organization of Turkic States (OT), the press service of the Senate said on Thursday.
The agreement was signed by Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey at a meeting of the OTS in Bishkek on November 6, 2024. It implies cooperation in the event of natural disasters and emergencies. Support can be provided at the request of the affected state of the OTS.
The document also regulates the exchange of experience in the organization and management of search and rescue operations in emergency situations.
The senators noted that the ratification of the agreement would upgrade the international cooperation in the field of emergency situations and the prevention, forecasting, monitoring and analysis of natural disasters.
