Today, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke to the Russian President Vladimir Putin over the telephone, the Uzbek presidential press service said.

The two leaders discussed the ways to further advance and strengthen the Uzbek-Russian comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance ties, focusing on the implementation of agreements in the trade and economic areas.

They stressed the importance of continuing coordinated work and interdepartmental interaction in order to increase the bilateral trade figures, promote industrial cooperation projects in priority sectors, expand productive contacts at the provincial level, and conduct intensive cultural, humanitarian and educational exchanges.

In this context, the leaders pointed to the need for careful preparation and ensuring the effectiveness of the second meeting of the Council of Provinces of Uzbekistan and Russia scheduled for this fall.

They also exchanged views on the international agenda and reviewed the schedule of upcoming events.
