Khamkorlik-2025 joint exercises between servicemen of Uzbekistan and Russia commenced at the Termez training ground of the Southwestern Military District, the press service of the Ministry of Defense said.

At the opening ceremony, the speakers stressed that "these exercises were important for strengthening knowledge and exchanging experience between servicemen of the two countries, as well as for improving the skills of combat operations in deserts."

Special units numbering about 400 servicemen are involved in the exercises. The Russian side is taking part with its military equipment.

For 10 days, servicemen of the two countries will perform tasks on joint control of units in a combat situation, ensuring the inviolability of the state border and destroying a simulated enemy.

The Defense Ministry added that the exercises were being held in line with the military cooperation plan signed between the two countries.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, during the exercise, military units will practice:

  • command of units during detection and destruction of small groups of illegal armed formations in border areas that have crossed the border;
  • comand of units during destruction of groups that have occupied buildings and positions in border areas;
  • occupation of captured structures and positions by combined arms units;
  • fighting small enemy groups;
  • organization of assault and clearing of a populated area occupied by militants.

Russia is represented by mountain and assault units, mobile electronic warfare groups, reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle and FPV drone crews, as well as crews of an aviation group on Mi-24 attack helicopters.
