The Government of Tajikistan by its June 30 resolution approved a draft deal with Uzbekistan on power supply by Rogun hydroelectric power plant.

The enterprise Uzenergosotish (which performs the function of centralized purchase and sale of power in Uzbekistan) will purchase electricity from the hydroelectric power plant at a price of 3.4 cents (about 434.2 soums) per 1 kW⋅h, including zero rate VAT. This price will be indexed by 1% annually starting from the second year of planned deliveries.

The power will be supplied in parallel with the import of electricity from the Tajikistan state-owned company Barki Tojik.

Tajikistan will supply power according to the schedule agreed upon by the parties, primarily during power shortage hours in the Unified Electric Power System of Uzbekistan.

During the construction of the Rogun HPP, electricity will be supplied during the growing season (from April 1 to September 30), and after the plant reaches its full design capacity, it will be supplied monthly throughout the year.

The agreement has been entered into for 20 years with the possibility of extension.

Tajikistan began the Rogun HPP dam project in 2016. The first unit of the HPP was commissioned in November 2018, the second in September 2019.
