Uzbekistan-bound money remittances reached $8.2 billionin in January-June 2025, recording a 27% increase to the same period last year ($6.5 billion), the Central Bank said in a report.

The remittances has been consistently rising every month: $1.06 billion was transferred in January, $1.07 billion - in February, $1.21 billion - in March, $1.43 billion - in April, $1.64 billion - in May, and $1.78 billion - in June.

The bulk of the receipts — $6.4 billion or 78% (previously 77%) — came from Russia, from where transfers increased by 29.3% (previously $4.95 billion), followed by Kazakhstan, the USA, South Korea, Turkey, UK, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania and other countries.

The Central Bank stressed that the growth in transfers was driven by the continuing demand for labor and the level of wages in countries where labor migrants from Uzbekistan are employed. An additional factor was the strengthening of currencies in these countries. For example, the Russian ruble has gained against the dollar by 29.7% year-to-date.

The remittances nearly doubled from the UK ($89 million), rose by 41% from the European Union ($251 million, including from Ireland - 2.8 times, from Lithuania - by 79%, from the Netherlands - by 44%, from Poland - by 20%), by 5.6% from South Korea ($282 million), and also by 15% from the USA ($313 million).

Of the total volume of transfers, $4.3 billion (53%) were transferred through international money transfer systems, $3.6 billion (44%) through direct P2P transfers to bank cards, and $251 million (3%) through the SWIFT system.

The volume of transfers from Uzbekistan abroad topped $1.2 billion, which is approximately the same as last year.
