Uzbekneftegaz vowed to completely abandon producing gasoline from September 2025, the Ministry of Energy said. Uzbekneftegaz intends to use up all available stocks of AI-80 before 2026. From 2026, the company plans to completely switch to the production and sale of high-octane gasoline.
It was reported in May last year, Uzbekneftegaz sought to modernize Bukhara Oil Refinery (BOR) jointly with the Chinese CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation). In January 2024, Uzbekneftegaz signed an agreement with the Chinese company on the joint project for production of up to 1 million tons of high-octane gasoline per year - 60% of the total will be AI-92, 40% - AI-95.
Mass production of AI-92 with additives has already been launched. The company expects that the additives will reduce the gasoline’s price, but specific calculations have not yet been provided.
In general, the production of 1.03 million tons of gasoline is scheduled for 2025: 487 thousand tons of AI-80 and 543 thousand tons of AI-92+. While, the production of AI-80 will last only through September, after which about 90 thousand tons of AI-92+ will be produced monthly. By the end of the year, all stocks of AI-80 gasoline will reportedly be used.
