Uzbekistan and Switzerland have completed bilateral talks on market access as part of Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization, the President's WTO Envoy Azizbek Urunov said on his LinkedIn page.

According to him, the relevant MoM was signed on Monday in Geneva.

"Another WTO member has been added to the list of countries with which talks were completed - only few remain! I would like to voice my gratitude to both teams - Uzbek and Swiss - for the great and constructive work they have done," he added.

The Envoy Urunov added that "the long list was gradually shrinking, the countdown has begun."

In May, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave a directive to complete bilateral negotiations on WTO accession with the remaining 9 countries by the year-end, hold two more meetings of the Working Group and complete the preparation of the draft of its final report.

Earlier in March, negotiations had been completed with 21 countries. Then, Azizbek Urunov noted that Uzbekistan had to complete negotiations with the European Union, Russia, the UK, Switzerland and other countries.
