Light truck manufacturing unit has been launched in Denau district of Surkhandarya province, the provinceal governor office said.
The $30 million project launched by the Uzeltekhsanoat association and the province’s governor office has the annual capacity of 5,000 vehicles.
Local manufacturing of key components for inexpensive and high-quality light trucks manufactured at the enterprise will reportedly provide affordable and reliable vehicles.
The next pha of the project will see the launch of light commercial electric vehicles project.
In May, the Chinese Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor (a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor Group) proposed building an automobile plant in Surkhandarya province. The company presented several models of electric vans, mini-trucks and multi-purpose vehicles. The parties agreed to hold bilateral negotiations with the participation of specialists for an in-depth study of the feasibility study of the project.
