Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of projects being implemented in New Tashkent City project, the presidential press service said.
The construction in the new city commenced in 2023, with the first buildings already erected to date. 19.7 thousand hectares of land have been allocated in the Yukorichirchik and Urtachirchik districts to implement the plans. The project concept was developed by the UK company Cross Works.
In phase I, construction work is underway on 6 thousand hectares, where housing for 600 thousand people will be created. The city will host 2 million residents when the whole is completed in the future. These figures clearly show the scale of the project. Therefore, the authorities reportedly are focusing on the quality and durability of the infrastructure. Underground utilities are currently being actively built: collectors through which heating and water pipes, power grids and telecommunications will be laid. Tunnels and underground parking lots are also being built for convenient traffic.
Each project is based on modern and ecofriendly solutions. The city will introduce eco-friendly transport, and the connectivity of the subway and electric buses will be ensured. Comfortable and safe conditions will be created for pedestrians and cyclists.
More than 60 buildings for government bodies are planned to be built in the administrative zone. Today, more than ten ministries and departments have already begun work in temporary facilities on the territory of New Tashkent.
Many local and foreign investors are showing interest in the project. At the auctions, $554 million worth of agreements have already been entered into on 13 commercial lots. Hotels, restaurants and buildings with original architecture will appear here, which will not only provide high-quality service, but also turn the city into a new tourism center.
The construction works will provide jobs for 160 thousand people, and in the future, hundreds of thousands of permanent jobs based on innovative technologies will be created in the city. For this purpose, it is planned to develop educational and medical clusters, IT services and technology parks.
The head of state gave recommendations on attracting investment, as well as on creating comfortable recreation areas and services.
