President Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered an address at the second World Summit for Social Development today in Doha under the auspices of the UN, the presidential press service said.

He underscored that in recent years, the poverty level in Uzbekistan had been reduced from 35% to 6.6%.

The President put forward a number of initiatives aimed at strengthening global social justice. He proposed the creation of a Global Social Justice Fund, which would provide practical support in reducing poverty and social inequality.

"We believe that the time has come to create a new financial architecture for combating poverty that will attract resources to social programs in developing countries".

“We also propose developing a Global Initiative on Social Responsibility and Decent Work, emphasizing the importance of implementing modern mechanisms to address employment issues.”

“The rapid development of technologies and artificial intelligence is leading to the loss of millions of jobs, which requires strengthening social partnership between the underscore, business, and society.”

“We would like to pay special attention to education, calling it "one of the most effective tools for solving social problems. The annual economic damage from illiteracy stands at $1.4 trillion”.

“ We proposed holding one of the next summits of the Global Alliance to Combat Hunger and Poverty in Uzbekistan, highlighting education as the central topic”.

“Furthermore we would like to propose holding an International Forum on Social and Legal Protection of Migrants and their Families in Tashkent, jointly with the International Labour Organization and the International Organization for Migration.”

“The climate change is increasingly affecting social life, primarily farmers and residents of environmentally vulnerable regions. He underscored that Uzbekistan intends to launch a new model of socio-economic development for the Aral Sea region, declared by the UN as a territory of environmental innovation and technology, and expressed readiness to share this experience with the international community.”

"Our main duty is to restore social harmony on the path of international development, to create a decent standard of living for every person".

“We reiterate our full support for the Doha Political Declaration, adopted at the end of the summit, and his readiness to ensure the practical implementation of all its principles.”

In the event was also present the UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the President of the UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock, heads of states and government, as well as representatives of international and regional organizations.
