President Mirziyoyev signed Additional measures to improve the management of the transport system in Tashkent and prevent traffic jams Decree aimed at improving the management of the Tashkent transport system and reduce traffic jams. The Decree has approved target indicators for the development of the Tashkent transport system until 2030.

For Tashkent city the Decree has set the following goals:

  • increase the level of public transport use to 60 percent;
  • increase the average speed of buses from 18 km/h to 24 km/h;
  • bring parking lots number to 150 thousand places;
  • increase the length of the metro network to 103 kilometers.

The decree orders setting up of a traffic management center in the capital, with The following goals:

  • continuous monitoring of transport, passenger and pedestrian flows using modern digital and "green" technologies;
  • developing a Tashkent city transport master plan;
  • erecting multi-storey car parks at the intersections of main roads, bus and metro stations entering from provinces;
  • setting up parking lots in accordance with safety requirements under underground and elevated metro lines.

According to the decree, these steps aim at increasing the ratio of public transport use, improving road capacity and making movement more convenient for pedestrians.
