Uzbekistan will open three consulates in the United States, the Uzbek ambassador to the United States, Furqat Sidiqov said at a meeting with ambassadors and business leaders on Saturday.

According to him, visa-free for US citizens starting in 2026 will open new prospects for the tourism sector.

He underscored that relations between Uzbekistan and the United States haв reached their highest level for the first time and the country's diplomatic mission would be expanded.

"For the past 30 years, we had an embassy in Washington and a consulate general in New York. However, as per the presidential decree, we will open three more consulates in Chicago, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.," Sidikov said.

The ambassador underscored that this would facilitate promoting the country's tourism potential.

“Flights are operated from Uzbekistan five times a week, which also serves as a kind of bridge, and this should be actively used. We are considering the possibility of opening additional flights to Florida or California. This means that the potential will expand even more,” the ambassador said.

He underscored that now the third generation of Uzbek migrants is growing up in the US, and many are losing touch with their language and homeland.

“If we offer special tours for our compatriots, I am sure that Uzbek families will be happy to bring their children to Uzbekistan - to show them Samarkand, Bukhara and other historical places,” he said.
