Former chairman of Uzbekneftegaz, Bakhodir Siddikov has been arrested in suspicion of embezzlement of state funds and other corruption crimes.

Today, at the urgent government meeting, the president announced that a major investigation was currently underway at Uzbekneftegaz, and embezzlement worth billions of soums had been identified.

The Chairman of the State Security Service has been given a directive to evaluate the work of its officals responsible for Uzbekneftegaz.

It should be noted that in mid-December last year, first Presidential Energy Security Envoy Alisher Sultanov, and then the chief of Uzbekneftegaz Bakhodir Siddikov were sacked.
