President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals for the development of Navoi International Airport and the transformation of civil aviation enterprises Monday, the presidential press service said.

Navoi Airport will be removed from the centralized operational management system of Uzbekistan Airports. It will be entitled to independently negotiate and enter into contracts with local and foreign airlines for passenger and cargo transportation, as well as transit and technical stops.

Free customs zone, a Free Port, will be set up at the airport, specializing in the provision of technical and commercial services for aircraft.

Specialized equipment and spare parts imported for aircraft maintenance will be waived from customs duties until January 1, 2029. The hotel located on the airport grounds will also be transferred to the airport's management.

The airport infrastructure will be expanded and modernized, including the terminals, aircraft fleet, and fuel tanks, aircraft repair and painting services to be developed. The airport's revenues are planned to be used to increase aviation services export.
