The Central Asian countries should support the European Union in enforcing sanctions against Russia, and should also stand by Ukraine, the German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful said ahead of the meeting with the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
According to Wadeful, the European Union has imposed wide-ranging sanctions against Russia to curb its military machine. However, the Central Asian countries are helping Russia to circumvent the EU’s sanctions.
"Today I want to make it clear: attempts to circumvent these sanctions play in hand for Russia's invasion and war of aggression and thus directly threaten the security interests of the European Union," Wadeful said.
On February 11, Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful in Berlin. The talks reported centered around on expanding strategic cooperation.
" We are aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in key areas such as trade, energy, and regional stability. Also highlighted the importance of strengthening economic ties through initiatives like the Uzbekistan-Germany Business Council and upcoming summits," Bakhtiyor Saidov said on his Telegram page.
