Uzbekistan to conduct geological exploration of promising uranium deposits in Mongolia. Strategic agreement between the Mining and Geology Ministries, as well as companies from the two countries, is scheduled to be signed at an intergovernmental meeting scheduled for April.
The parties will develop geological and environmental design documentation for the promising uranium deposits and submit the necessary documents to Mongolia's authorized body for licensing.
The phase I involves drilling approximately 60,000 linear meters to assess reserves and refine further work.
Development of four uranium deposits in Uzbekistan will begin this year. These are Arnasai (Jizzakh province), Western Kizilkok, Southern Zhongeldi (Navoi province), and Eastern Agron (Samarkand province).
Last year, Uzbekistan mined 7,000 tons of uranium, with proven reserves of 139,000 tons.
