Both public and private kindergartens will temporarily suspend operations across several cities and districts in Karakalpakstan due to a sharp rise in temperatures, according to the province's Ministry of Preschool and School Education.

Officials explained that the measure was introduced to protect children's health from the extreme heat and to ensure their overall safety.

Based on directives issued by local city and district mayors (khokims), closures will take effect on the following schedules:

  • Nukus and the Khodjeyli district: Closed from July 13 to July 18
  • Amudarya district: Closed from July 13 to July 15
  • Beruni, Takhiatash, Shumanay, Muynak, Kanlikul, and Turtkul districts: Closed from July 13 to July 17

The suspensions are based on assessments and formal recommendations from provinceal branches of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health.

Authorities have also urged parents to closely monitor their children's health, keep them indoors during peak heat hours, and strictly follow necessary safety precautions.

The closures follow a warning from Uzhydromet that a severe heatwave will sweep across Uzbekistan from July 13 to July 17. Temperatures are projected to climb as high as +44°C to +46°C in some areas, with dust storms expected in certain provinces.
