A sixth-grade student at School No. 22 in the Bulungur district of Samarkand province has tragically taken his own life. The incident occurred on March 5 of this year, according to Abdurahmon Tashanov, chairman of the Ezgulik Human Rights Society.

A forensic medical examination of 12-year-old Diyorbek Akbarov, who was found hanged, confirmed that his death was caused by asphyxiation. The autopsy report also documented physical injuries on the boy’s body inflicted by a blunt object.

Subsequent inquiries revealed that these injuries may have been caused by his female homeroom teacher, who allegedly struck him with a wooden slate.

According to the human rights activist, the teacher punished the student for playing a joke on a female classmate. Following the disciplinary action, the boy returned home in a severely distressed state and took his own life shortly thereafter. The rights defender noted that the child was still wearing his school uniform when the tragedy occurred.

The boy's mother, Zarifa Shodmonova, stated that she has spent months appealing to various government agencies. According to a letter from the Bulungur District Prosecutor's Office dated June 3, a criminal case has finally been opened under Article 103, Part 2, clause "b" of the Criminal Code, which addresses driving a minor to suicide.

However, the mother claims that she has not yet been questioned as an injured party, and no official information regarding potential suspects in the case has been provided to her.

To date, neither the Ministry of Preschool and School Education nor law enforcement agencies have issued an official statement regarding the incident.
