During his visit to the Namangan province, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the progress of a new passenger terminal at Namangan International Airport project. The project aims to multiply the airport's handling capacity and establish a modern transit infrastructure.
The expansion project of Namangan International Airport is being implemented as part of a nationwide initiative to modernize Uzbekistan's transportation networks.
The $175 million project features a new three-story passenger terminal. Spanning 22,600 square meters, the facility will be capable of handling 1,200 passengers per hour and serving over 3 million passengers annually.
The new terminal will house border and customs control points, visa services, a business lounge, retail and dining outlets, a medical station, and a Duty-Free zone. The project is also projected to create 550 new jobs.
Additionally, a cargo terminal with a daily capacity of 50 tons is scheduled to open by the end of 2027. This facility will introduce the only modern air freight hub in the Fergana Valley, expanding opportunities to export local goods to 90 countries worldwide.
While inspecting the construction site, the head of state instructed officials to further refine the airport's infrastructure and elevate overall service standards.
