Tolls on the Urgench–Khiva expressway will run 25,000 soums for passenger cars, the press service of the Automobile Roads Committee said.

For passenger vehicles (category M1), a full round trip between Khiva and Urgench will cost 25,000 soums. A shorter 28-kilometer stretch, running from the Turkmanli neighborhood to Khiva, will cost 20,000 soums.

For light trucks up to 3.5 tons (category N1), buses seating more than eight passengers (categories M2/M3), and medium-duty trucks weighing 3.5 to 12 tons (category N2), the full route will cost 40,000 soums, with the shorter stretch priced at 25,000 soums.

Tolls will be collected electronically without requiring vehicles to stop, with traffic flow and the payment system managed through AI-based digital tools.

Officials noted that the toll collection system on the route — Uzbekistan's first-ever toll road — is currently running in test mode and will go fully live on August 25. A mobile app will be available on Google Play and the App Store.

Through the road's website, drivers will be able to check road conditions, traffic congestion, estimated travel times, and weather conditions. The site will also feature an electronic wallet that can be topped up either through VIA, a third-party payment service developed by DEVHUB, or by linking a bank card. Drivers can choose to pay tolls manually or enable automatic deductions from their balance after each trip. Vehicles can also be registered on the site using their license plate number, vehicle category, make, model, and color.

Per posted road signs, the maximum speed limit on the toll road is 150 km/h (130 km/h on curves), with a minimum speed of 40 km/h. Pedestrians, mopeds, horse-drawn carts, and vehicles towing trailers are barred from the road, as are U-turns and stopping.

The road's top surface layers use a specially modified bitumen mix designed to withstand hot climates, with a total pavement thickness of 87 centimeters. President Mirziyoyev inspected the toll road and took a test drive along it on August 18.

Under an updated version of the Automobile Roads Law, adopted August 5, tolls on paid roads may be set as a flat fee, calculated per kilometer traveled, or differentiated by vehicle category, time of day, day of the week, or month of the year.
