September 25 - 27, 2018 a three-day workshop will be held in Tashkent to improve the practical skills of customs and border authorities in the prevention and detection of illegal trafficking of goods and means of transport. The workshop is being facilitated by the experts of Border Management in Central Asia Programme, funded by the European Union.

This initiative is aimed to increase the efficiency of inspection and working procedures with smuggling goods. Within the framework of the workshop the practical exercises will be conducted on risk analysis and detection of caches in the process of customs inspection as well as identification forged seals and modified containers. Also, participants will be familiarized with the use of various technical means, methods and practices applied in the Lithuanian Customs Service and the European Union.

The first BOMCA operations in Central Asia began in 2003 and, since then, BOMCA has strengthened the partnership between Central Asian Governments in the field of border management. The European Union allocated a sum of EUR 40, 1 million to BOMCA for the period of 2003 – 2019, out of which EUR 6, 6 million were assigned to its 9th implementation phase (2015 - 2019).
