The U.S. Ambassador Daniel Rosenblum believes that U.S. policy to Uzbekistan will not change, he told Kun.uz in an interview.
“Many people are interested in the answer to this question. I think that, in general, the U.S. policy towards Uzbekistan will not change,” the diplomat said.
He noted that he had worked with various U.S. administrations.
“During my tenure in the U.S. government since the late 1990s, there have been a number of presidential administrations. However, there were no major changes in the policy towards Uzbekistan. Although I myself have served under the presidents of the two parties, we have seen continuity in politics. Therefore, I do not think that US policy towards Uzbekistan and Central Asia will change,” the Ambassador said.
The diplomat said that relations with Uzbekistan will be rather solid than variable.
“First, we are interested in stability in the Central Asia. We strive to ensure that there is no violence and conflict in the region. If there is instability, it will affect the United States as well. The second reason is that we want these countries to have national independence. These are the cornerstones of the U.S. relations with Uzbekistan. In any case, this policy has been pursued since the 90s, and I think it will remain the same even if a new president comes to power in January,” he concluded.
