On November 21, the Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov visited Turkestan, Kazakhstan where he held talks with his Kazakh counterpart Askar Mamin. The Uzbek delegation included members of the government and other officials.

As reported on the website of the Kazakhstan government portal, the prime ministers discussed topical issues of trade and economic, investment, agricultural, water and energy, transport and logistics, customs cooperation, as well as industrial cooperation and interregional interaction.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of a plan of practical measures to expand and deepen cooperation between the two countries for 2020-2022, the creation of a regional commodity distribution system, the International Center for Trade and Economic Cooperation on the Border, modernization of border checkpoints and others.

At the end of 2019, the two-way trade between the two countries increased by 21.2% to US$ 4.5 billion, with the parties eyeing the US$ 10 billion mark.

The heads of government attedned the opening ceremony in Turkestan of the Uzbek-Kazakh joint venture for textile goods, Turkistan Textile. The garment factory is located on 2 hectares in the Turkistan industrial zone. The volume of investments amounted to 700 million tenge. The design capacity is 13 thousand textile items per month. The enterprise created over 1000 new jobs for women, including those with special needs.

Askar Mamin introduced Abdulla Aripov to the new social, sports, transport and tourist infrastructure of Turkestan - the international airport, the congress hall, the Uly Dala Eli center, the Turkestan Arena stadium, the Schoolchildren's Palace, the Rixos Turkestan hotel, as well as the construction of Caravanserai multifunctional tourist complex and a mosque for 5000 seats.

The prime ministers also visited the mausoleum of Ahmad Yassaui, the Azret-Sultan cultural and historical museum and laid flowers at the Abay monument.
