1,723 officials were brought to justice in 2020 in 1148 criminal cases, the General Prosecutor's Office said. In 2019, 1,339 officials were prosecuted in 994 criminal cases.
Of these, 9 officials are employees of the republican, 45 - provincial and 1669 - district (city) subdivisions of ministries, departments and organizations.
Those prosecuted have committed such crimes as:
- theft of other people's property by means of appropriation and embezzlement - 835 persons (660 - in 2019);
- fraud - 227 (167);
- receiving and giving bribe, mediation in bribery - 132 (127);
- abuse of office - 58 (47);
- exceeding official powers - 31 (25);
- official negligence - 25 (22);
- official forgery - 16 (11);
- other crimes - 399 (280).
As a result, 500.1 billion soums worth of damage was caused to state, of which 355.7 billion soums (71%) were recovered. In 2019, the damage amounted to 1.8 trillion soums, 1.7 trillion soums (94.1%) were recovered.
