On February 2, the Kattakurgan City Criminal Court made its ruling over the rape of a 16-year-old student of a lyceum in Samarkand province, the press service of the Supreme Court said.

The trial was held behind closed doors in line with the article 19 of the Criminal Procedure Code (criminal proceedings in all courts are open, except for cases when it is contrary to the interests for protecting state secrets, as well as when cases of sexual crimes are being considered).

The court made the following jail terms for the accused:

The pop singer Jasur Umirov was found guilty under Rape charge, and was sentenced to 5 years in prison. Although, following the investigation, the prosecutor's office requested a charge under the charge the Rape of a person, knowingly for a guilty person, under 18 years old / is punished with imprisonment from 10 to 15 years).

In early September, it became known that Jasur Umirov was suspected of raping a 16-year-old first-grade student of a Lyceum in Samarkand province. The story was reported to have taken place in June 2020. The artist met the girl through her friend, invited her into the house, gave her alcohol and had sexual intercourse.

The singer himself stated that he did not have an affair with the girl, and suggested that his friends, who were also in the house that day, were involved. In addition, according to the singer, the victim's father blackmailed him and demanded to buy a house.

The Kattakurgan District Police Department refused to open a criminal case "due to the absence of signs of a crime in the actions of Umirov and others." After an additional pre-investigation probe, on October 9, a criminal case was opened.
