At the Feb. 3 meeting, MPs of the Legislative Chamber approved the termination of the powers of some members of the current composition of the Central Election Commission and the election of new members, the Yuksalish movement said.

Thus, the powers of 7 commission members (of at least 15 people) were terminated, including the chairman Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov, who headed the CEC since May 2005:

  5. Esanbay Rajabov, Advisor to the Chairman of the Association of Trade Union Organizations of the Kashkadarya Province (2014)
  6. Erkin Khodjakulov, Chairman of the Tashkent City Court of General Jurisdiction (2014)
  7. Jalil Norov, (died).

The deputies also elected 8 new CEC members:

  1. Zainiddin Nizamhodjaev, Deputy Chairman of the Senate;
  2. Bahrom Kuchkarov, Deputy Minister of Justice;
  3. Ergash Yusupov, chairman of the association of trade union organizations of the Khorezm province;
  4. Alexander Farmonov, adviser to the chairman of the board of the Uzelektroapparat company;
  5. Muyassar Kadirova, responsible organizer of the trade union of health workers in Surkhandarya province;
  6. Shukhrat Juraev, retired
  7. Orifjon Bazarov, rector of the Karshi Engineering and Economic Institute;
  8. Alisher Usmankulov, rector of the Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute.

According to our sources, the candidacy of Zainiddin Nizamkhodjaev, 66, is being considered for the post of chairman of the Central Election Commission. He was born in Tashkent province. He worked as the head of the department of surgery of the esophagus and stomach at the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Surgery named after I. Vakhidov. Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor. Since January 21, 2020 he has been working as Deputy Chairman of the Senate.

Bahrom Kuchkarov, 48, a graduate of the Tashkent State Institute of Law (1994), the Washington College of Law (1998) and the Tashkent State Economic University (1999), may become the deputy head of the CEC. He began his career in 1994 as a senior consultant in one of the departments in Ministry of Justice. He headed the State Committee for Ecology (2017-2020), and since May 2020 he has been working as a Deputy Minister of Justice.

According to the Electoral Code, the chairman of the CEC is elected from among its members on the proposal of the president at a meeting of the commission, and the deputy chairman and secretary are elected from among its members at a meeting of the commission.

Earlier, Mahmud Istamov, who worked as deputy head of the Central Election Commission, was appointed prosecutor of the Bukhara province.
