A 240 MW capacity thermal power plant will be built in the Tashkent province, according to the Feb. 2 presidential decree.
The decree approved an investment agreement between the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan and the Turkish Cengiz Enerji (investor) and Cenergo (design company).
The decree also approved an electricity purchase agreement between JSC National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan (NEGU) and Cenergo. Under the agreement, Cenergo undertakes to sell the generated electricity to NEGU, and NEGU is guaranteed to purchase it for 25 years.
The presidential decree of April 13, 2019 on the TPP project in the Tashkent province with a capacity of 850 MW was declared void.
Earlier, the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade reported that the construction of a thermal power plant in the Tashkent province would draw direct Turkish investments of up to US$ 150 million and ensure the production of affordable electricity in the amount of 2 billion kWh per year.
