Uzbekistan is in talks with 12 manufacturers of COVID-19 vaccines, with the vaccination due to start in early March, the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Authority said.
The Service also confirmed that in July, subject to successful completion of clinical trials in Uzbekistan, it is planned to purchase the Chinese vaccine from Ayhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical.
3,138 vaccination rooms and 820 mobile teams have already been created in medical institutions in Karakalpakstan, provinces and Tashkent city, to vaccinate the public against coronavirus.
Most of the public will be vaccinated as soon as risk groups get the vaccine. The first to receive the vaccine will b: the senior citizens over 65, people with chronic diseases, medical personnel, employees of preschool, secondary and higher educational institutions, law enforcement officers who work in contact with the population. In this case, vaccination will take place only on a voluntary basis.
