Uzbekistan expects to resume regular flights with Russia in March-April, the situation with coronavirus in the country meets the criteria of the Russian Federation, the Deputy Minister of Transport Jasurbek Choriyev said this at a press briefing on Tuesday.
“While we are waiting for a response from the Russian side. I think that in March-April there will be some positive result,” he said.
The deputy minister stated that the authorities had sent all information about the epidemiological situation with COVID-19 in Uzbekistan to the anti-coronavirus commission of the Russian Federation.
“We are meeting all the standards, according to the criteria established by the Russian commission to resume regular flights,” he added.
Uzbekistan opened its external borders to any type of transport from October 1. Uzbekistan Airways in September last year resumed regular flights to Belarus, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and from January 20 - to Tajikistan, in March - to Germany and India.
Flights to countries where the situation with coronavirus remains serious, in particular to Russia, is continuing via special flights. A flight from Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation is possible only if there is a certificate with a negative result of a PCR test for COVID-19, as well as documents for undergoing the necessary treatment or family reunification.
