On March 7, the Consulate General of Turkey opened in Samarkand, the provincial governor’s office said. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy PM Aziz Abdukhakimov, Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Samarkand province governor Erkinjon Turdimov.
The consulate will carry out tasks for the development of investment, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Turkey and Uzbekistan.
During a visit to Uzbekistan on March 6-9, a Turkish delegation led by the Foreign minister Çavuşoğlu will also attend the second meeting of the joint strategy planning group chaired by the foreign ministers of the two countries.
