Uzbekistan has begun developing its own vaccine against coronavirus, announced the Minister of Health Abdukhakim Khodjiboev.

“To date, our scientists have created the first protein S molecule of the COVID-19 vaccine,” he said.

He added that soon the researchers were planning to begin preclinical trials of this drug on animals.

Earlier, Ding Fan, who was in charge of the clinical trials of Zhifei Loncom Biofharmaceutical in Uzbekistan, said that Uzbekistan was recognized as a co-author of the Chinese vaccine ZF 2001, developed by Zhifei Loncom Biofharmaceutical.

In February, the First Deputy Minister of Innovative Development Shahlo Turdikulova said the Sino-Uzbek vaccine was six times more effective against new strains than Moderna.
