On April 12, the Deputy PM/Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umrzakov held online talks with Indian Minister of Railways, Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal.

In 2020, the two-way trade with India stood at US$ 442 million, which is by 25% more than in 2019. The parties expressed Interest in taking effective steps to increase the volume of bilateral trade and discussed tasks for the near future.

In particular, an agreement was reached to expedite the preparation of the results of joint research conducted by the relevant research institutes of the two countries to assess the possibility of concluding a preferential trade agreement between Uzbekistan and India.

The parties focused on the development of cooperation in the field of transport and logistics, and reached an agreement to establish joint expert groups from among the experts of the relevant structures to study the experience of integration into the international transport corridor system.

The parties also agreed to further expand cooperation in the development of new projects and initiatives in the field of construction and reconstruction of Uzbekistan’s transport infrastructure.
