The Swiss diplomat Pierre von Arx has been appointed as the new chief of the Office of the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan. He will take up his new duties in May, Dunyo reported.

Uzbekistan's Permanent Representative to the OSCE and the Ambassador to Austria Abat Fayzullayev, at an online meeting with Pierre von Arx, congratulated him on his appointment and expressed hope that his knowledge and experience would further strengthen and develop Uzbekistan's cooperation with the OSCE.

Pierre von Arx is currently the Head of the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek. Prior to that, in 2006-2016, he was an adviser and deputy permanent representative of the Swiss Mission to the OSCE.

Pierre von Arx will replace the Canadian John McGregor who had served as the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekista since May 2016, who has been posted to the head of the OSCE Mission to Turkmenistan job.

The other day, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, Press Secretary of the President of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov conveyed to John McGregor a letter of gratitude from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev due to the completion of his diplomatic activity in the country.
