A partnership agreement between the Uzbek Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT) and the French Development Agency (FDA) was approved on May 10 in Tashkent. The cooperation program is designed for 2021-2025.
During this period, FDA plans to provide about 1 billion euros in loans, technical assistance and grants to support reforms in Uzbekistan.
The signing ceremony was overseen by the Deputy PM/Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov and the French Minister-Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness Frank Riester.
In accordance with the FDA's mandate "Green Growth and Solidarity", as well as within the framework of the Paris Agreement on Climate, funds will be provided for the implementation of joint projects in the field of water supply and sanitation, energy and hydropower, energy-saving technologies using alternative energy sources, agriculture, environmental protection. environment and sustainable resource management including solid waste management, private sector support, and budget support loans.
One of the projects in the field of forestry and rural development is expected to be implemented in the Aral Sea region. FAD plans to act in it as a co-financing structure jointly with the European Investment Bank.
