Today were held political consultations between the foreign ministries of Uzbekistan and Ukraine, the Dunyo news agency reported.

The delegations were headed by the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Farhod Arziev and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Yevgeniy Yenin.

The parties discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian areas.

The Ukrainian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Mykola Doroshenko said that a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed at the meeting, and that joint steps were identified in priority areas. “This is, first of all, about the creation of Ukrainian industrial clusters in Uzbekistan, the opportunities of exporting products to third countries,” he said.

Nikolai Doroshenko added that after political consultations, the deputy ministers attended the opening ceremony of an Ukrainian-Uzbek business forum and met with the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov. “I am convinced that the agreements reached at this level will become the cornerstone of the roadmap for bilateral cooperation for the coming years,” he added.

“For Ukraine, Uzbekistan is a key partner in the Central Asian region,” the ambassador said. - Our political consultations relaunched the political dialogue, gave impetus to the restoration of communication at the intergovernmental and interparliamentary levels. It may sound somewhat trite, but the truth is that with the visit of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevgeny Yenin to Uzbekistan has opened a new page in the bilateral ties."
