The President's Spokesman Sherzod Asadov provided information on state support for bone marrow transplantation. He briefed the media on the events with the participation of the head of state planned for the week. At the end of the event, he took questions from journalists.
“It is known that the head of state visited oncology and hematology hospitals during Eid al-Fitr. During the visit, it was announced that 50 percent of the cost of bone marrow transplantation will be covered by the state. Many parents are now wondering when the plan will be implemented and who to address for funding.”
“Bone marrow transplantation is a very complex medical practice that requires high-tech laboratory equipment and highly skilled specialists. According to our information, citizens are currently applying to clinics in India for this operation. In India, this practice is cheaper than elsewhere - up to 30-50 thousand dollars. Because in European countries, this practice is more than 100 thousand dollars. That's big money. Making so much money is a burden for parents of sick children.
Therefore, the head of our state instructed to establish such medical practices in our country, to cover 50% of the operations at the expense of the state in order to provide some relief for patients and their parents.
Currently, the Center for Hematology and the D. Rogachev Institute of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology of Russia have signed a memorandum on the introduction of new methods of treatment in bone marrow transplantation. On the basis of the memorandum, domestic specialists will be sent to study foreign experience and improve their skills. Then it is introduced in ourselves. According to preliminary estimates of the Ministry of Health, it is planned to conduct bone marrow transplants in our country next year.
Also, a list of needy children being treated and under constant supervision at the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Medical Radiology will be compiled and they will be sent to the Charite Clinic in Germany, D. Rogachev and N. Blokhin clinics in Russia for treatment. The issue of reimbursing part of the costs is being considered, ”said Sherzod Asadov.
