Turkish Airlines completed the first flight from Istanbul to Fergana on June 8, the Fergana province governor office said in a statement.
The plane carrying 165 passengers was greeted at the Fergana international airport. The airport’s director Timur Khalilov and the general director of the Turkish Airlines office in Uzbekistan Selim Kahriman cut the red ribbon in front of the plane.
Istanbul to Fergana flights will be operated on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Reportedly, on April 15, the Uzaviatsia agency issued a permit to Turkish Airlines to operate regular flights from Istanbul to Fergana and Urgench. However, later flights from Istanbul to Fergana, Urgench and Samarkand were canceled until June 1 due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation in Turkey.
