Today, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the former president of Kazakhstan - Nursultan Nazarbayev, the presidential press service said in a statement.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev cordially congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev over his birthday, sincerely wishing him good health, prosperity and great success, as well as peace and prosperity to the people of Kazakhstan.
“Nursultan Nazarbayev’s role in the formation of the modern Kazakhstan and building the country's reputation in the international arena, his great contribution to strengthening the Uzbek-Kazakh good-neighborliness and strategic partnership ties, as well as ensuring stability and sustainable development in the region were emphasized. The parties reportedly discussed topical issues of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and underscored the importance of further promotion of priority projects in the field of trade, industry, agriculture, transport and logistics, tourism, joint programs in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
They also exchanged views on the regional agenda, primarily in the context of the aggravation of the situation in Afghanistan.
In addition, the schedule of upcoming bilateral and multilateral events was reviewed, including the holding of the next Central Asian Summit, the honorary chairman of which is the first president of Kazakhstan.
