The Uzbek authorities count on the U.S. support in terms of accession to the WTO in the status of a developing country, Dunyo said.
As part of the visit of the government delegation, of the First Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Laziz Kudratov met with U.S. official in Washington.
In the course of talsk with the office of the US Trade Representative, the parties agreed on preparation for the 5th meeting of the working group on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, the assistance of the United States in assigning Uzbekistan a developing country status, as well as the organization in September of regular bilateral consultations with the participation of members of the Uzbek interdepartmental commission cooperating with the WTO and representatives of the office of the U.S. Trade Representative.
Separately, the introduction of a new interaction mechanism was discussed – a monthly online talks between the Uzbek Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the US Department of Commerce with the participation of major U.S. companies.
An agreement was also reached to hold, starting from July, of the first three meetings in the fields of renewable energy, agriculture and ICT.
