The president signed a decree on July 19 creating the Agency for Uzbekistan’s Strategic Development, the Ministry of Justice said.
The decree also established the Agency’s Council chaired by the President and the Agency's Extra-Budgetary Fund for Support (without forming a legal entity).
One of the main tasks of the agency will be to study strategic issues of attracting investments and implementing projects by industries and regions, identifying promising industries and areas of investment.
The agency's general director shall be appointed and dismissed by the president.
To quickly and efficiently solve the most pressing problems in the field of increasing investment activity, the agency has also created an accelerator for strategic initiatives. The general director of the agency will be in charge of the accelerator.
